My art is created with that which others do not want. Leftovers, odd things, unexpected materials. I find the beauty in things that others would not want. I stay as local with my material as I can with my ongoing series of creations. My beginnings were in exotic bright and colorful species of wood. One day I realized the negative impact of those materials was so much greater than I was willing to take on. I decided to find my inspiration locally. I realized that there was more beauty in knowing right where your source is than just blindly saying “That’s pretty”. I may use technology to begin the process yet then I finish with my hands. I treat each piece as an individual even if there are 10 just like it. If just one of my pieces makes a genuine impact in someone’s life my job is complete.
