Find yourself in awe of watercolor illustrations in your instagram feed? Learn how with Lindsey Fyfe! This workshop is an introduction to painting with water media, with a focus on watercolor, for all levels. Students will use water-based media including watercolor and gouache (opaque watercolor), to learn techniques to best represent the natural world through painting. We will practice fundamentals like color mixing, textures, glazing, and controlling the transparency/opacity of your paint to represent land, sea and skyscapes in imaginative and abstracted ways.
Use a reference photo of a place you love to use as a springboard for your creativity. No painting experience required. All materials provided by Hartford Prints! and will be mailed to you. Make a gift, stationery, or a painting to hang on the wall, or simply enjoy some time honing your painting skills.
Lindsey Fyfe is a Hartford-based artist with a painting studio down the street from HP! She earned a Masters degree in Painting from the University of Edinburgh and currently works in the Education Department at the Wadsworth Athenaeum Museum of Art. She is an Adjunct Professor in the Fine Arts departments at University of Connecticut, Storrs, and Manchester Community College. Lindsey is also an enthusiastic bluegrass and folk musician.
Once the workshop is purchased, you will be mailed all of the materials you need to participate in this watercolor workshop and emailed a private link to the instructional video by Lindsey.
